Sole Freedom began with a simple but powerful truth: better movement, less pain, and greater freedom start with our feet.

In 2015, Canadian physical therapist Nick St. Louis founded The Foot Collective (TFC) after witnessing countless patients struggle with pain caused by modern shoes designed for fashion—not function. Instead of prescribing quick fixes and Band-Aid solutions, Nick set out to create a movement that restores natural foot function, balance, and strength.

But education alone wasn’t enough. Nick quickly realized that in order for people to truly reclaim their health, they also needed access to better shoes—footwear designed to support natural movement instead of working against it.

What started as a small experiment in selling natural footwear soon grew into something bigger.

As both sides of the mission expanded—the education and training through TFC, and the footwear and products through Sole Freedom—it became clear that they needed to stand as separate businesses, each focused on its own purpose, but united by the same vision: helping people walk freely, live fully, and reconnect to their bodies from the ground up.

Today, Sole Freedom is Canada’s #1 barefoot footwear hub, known for curating one of the highest-quality collections in the world.
